Quota protesters have blocked the Shahbagh intersection demanding immediate issuance of gazette abolishing quota system in government jobs.

According to witnesses, the protesters halted traffic at the intersection around 1:30pm on Monday while staging demonstrations, creating huge traffic congestion at Shahbagh and its nearby areas.

Students of different colleges and universities along with several thousand job seekers brought out a procession from Shahbagh intersection around 11am as a part of their scheduled programme.

Besides, an indefinite class and examination boycott programme at colleges and universities across the country is underway as the government failed to publish a gazette abolishing the quota system in government jobs by the deadline provided by quota protesters.

Students, under the banner of Bangladesh Shadharan Chhatra Odhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad, launched the movement on February 17 over their five-point demand including reducing the quota privilege to 10 percent from 56.
